The Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) has ordered Santo Domingo East (SDE) Mayor Juan de los Santos to issue a new tender for garbage collection in his municipality. The court found that there had been serious irregularities in the granting of the contract to Higiene Integral for garbage collections in the municipality. A competitor, Capitales Diversos, had filed a lawsuit calling for the annulment of the contract.
The president of Capitales Diversos, Victor Antonio Rodriguez, said that the mayor, Juan de los Santos, the council members and the president of Higiene Integral Trotsky Ayala Diaz should now be tried for falsifying documents, criminal association and for damages.
