Deputies pass sale of Monte Plata land

The Chamber of Deputies passed the sale of 14 million square meters of land in Monte Plata for RD$36 million yesterday. The land belongs to the State Sugar Council (CEA). The deal had been criticized because the land value is believed to have been grossly underestimated. The land is being transferred to the company head by Salomon Rizek Llabaly, as reported in Hoy.
