The European Union is funding a study aimed at identifying the training needs and obstacles facing Dominican export companies. The study will be carried out by the Center for Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic (CEI-DR) with consultants funded by the European Union. Grupo Consultoria Pareto is the consulting firm, under Rolando M. Guzman.
Some 400 exporting companies will be contacted for the research, which covers the areas of farming, agribusiness, organic exports, leather goods, cosmetics, metalwork, furniture, artistic painting, sculptures, music and cinematography.
CEI-RD says that the study seeks to identify the weaknesses and strengths of local exporting companies and to draft strategies for an increased competitiveness.
The research hopes to identify the problems so that solutions can be found for training, technical assistance and services to exporters.
