Representatives from the International Monetary Fund will begin work on the third review of the DR's economic performance in the context of the Stand-by Arrangement with the IMF. For the review to take place, the government needed to find sources of funds to meet its growing deficit. Economy, Planning and Development Minister Temistocles Montas says the indexation will fall short of the projected RD$1.2 billion because of its gradual implementation.
The 28-month Stand-by arrangement was approved on November 9, 2009 for an amount equivalent to RD$1.09 billion (about US$1.66 billion), or 500 percent of the Dominican Republic's IMF quota.
