Dr Sergio Rafael Rojas Soriano, who had gone out early for his morning run outside the Santo Domingo Botanical Gardens, and near the back entrance to the Pedro Henriquez Urena University has been murdered. According to reports, four men on two motorcycles are suspects in the murder. Witnesses have identified the murderers. The forensic study said he died of two bullet wounds. The 52-year old physician who worked at the UCE Medical Center had four children, of which the two eldest were traveling in the US with their mother.
The reasons for the murder are unknown, but robbery is not suspected because his BlackBerry, UASD graduate ring, watch, wallet and ID documents were not taken.
