Dominicans are celebrating Alex Rodriguez's latest achievement. The Dominican-American baseball superstar has joined Sammy Sosa in the exclusive 600-homerun club. He is only the seventh player in Major League Baseball history to have achieved this feat. The milestone run was batted against Toronto Blue Jay's Shaun Marcum, in the first inning of the game at the Yankee Stadium. Rodriguez has recovered from a homerun slump after 12 consecutive games without a homer since he hit No. 599 on 22 July. At 35 years, he is the youngest player to reach the 600 home runs.
Babe Ruth, Barry Bonds, Henry Aaron, Willie Mays, Ken Griffey Jr. and Sammy Sosa are the other members of the 600 homerun club.
