Atlanta Hawks star basketball player Al Horford is giving back to his hometown. The NBA star player has organized the Al Horford Camp in Puerto Plata and a selection of 50 young players are receiving first class instruction in the sport as part of the event. The camp is being held at the Gregorio Luperon Sports Complex. Instruction is by two former NBA players, BJ Amstrong and Tito Horford. The children are being taught the basics in order to improve their game. "There's a lot of future here," Horford told Hoy. "We wanted to show them the basics, but also to ensure that they have a fun time".
A second camp will be held in Santo Domingo, with fellow NBA players Jason Kapono, JR Smith, Jon Brockman and Gerald Henderson. The Santo Domingo camp will take place this Saturday and Sunday, 7-8 August at the Los Prados Club.
