President Leonel Fernandez opened the Expo Vega Real 2006 fair last night in central La Vega. Rafael Menicucci, president of the Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana gave the keynote speech, highlighting the advantages that La Vega province has to capitalize on opportunities offered by the DR-CAFTA. The presidents of the La Vega Chamber of Commerce and the fair's organizing committee, Juan Jose Alorda and Richard Almonte, also spoke at the opening. The event is dedicated to businessman Juan Heriberto Medrano for his contributions to the development of the province and the nation.
