Eight candidates have put themselves forward for the Presidency of Haiti, including two very popular musicians. One of them is the world famous Wyclef Jean, a winner of three Grammys and a good-will ambassador for Haiti. The other is his friend and popular local singer Michel Martelly, "Sweet Micky".
The Presidential elections will be held on 28 November. Other candidates include Jean Hector Anacacis, Jacques-Edouard Alexis and Charles-Henri Baker. Election observers began to arrive in Port-au-Prince yesterday. Haitian-born singer Wyclef Jean officially registered his candidacy at the headquarters of the Provisional Electoral Council yesterday.
