The Ministry of Public Works will close the elevated section of the Duarte Highway at Los Alcarrizos this weekend to carry out repair works on the expansion joints. This total closure will affect both directions from Friday 6 to Monday 9 August, weather permitting. The repairs to the elevated portion are needed due to the condition of the expansion joints that have been causing difficulties for traffic in both directions. The MOPC has worked out the coordination of the project with the Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET) in order to prevent traffic jams.
The work consists of removing the damaged joints, cutting and removing an average of 0.50 meters from the plates all along the joint of the Los Alcarrizos section. The solution to the damage in the metallic structure of the Duarte Expressway will consist of the placement and welding of steel plates.
