View Full Version : DR defeats Germany in Grand Prix

The DR women's volleyball team has picked up a first win at the 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix by scoring a 3-2 (19-25, 25-22, 29-31, 25-16, 17-19) victory over Germany on Saturday in Gdynia, Poland. The Dominican squad, ranked 14th in the world, fought the German squad point by point with the lead going back and forth. Germany will now play against Japan, and the Dominican Republic will play Macau.
This premier annual women's volleyball competition is now in its 18th year. The top 12 teams in the world are competing in the tournament. The DR, Puerto Rico and the USA are representing the North & Central America and Caribbean region. Brazil represents South America, Europe is represented by the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and Italy, and Asia is represented by Japan, China, Taiwan and Thailand.
