According to Police statistics, thieves of old vehicles (15 years old) prefer the ones that run on propane gas, in addition to Nissan Frontier pick ups, Daihatsu cargo trucks and Mitsubishi Montero SUVs. By brand, the most commonly stolen vehicles are usually Toyotas. European brands are the least popular with thieves. The Police say that they have systems that are difficult to break, and since there is less demand, the market for them is more limited, as reported in Diario Libre. According to Police statistics, around 25 vehicles are stolen every month in the country.
