Speaking at the opening of the Maritime Drug Trafficking Experts Meeting in Santo Domingo, Navy Chief Vice Admiral Homero Luis Lajara Sola spoke of the maritime security triangle established by the Navy. He said this has resulted in the National Drug Control Department being able to confiscate 7,621 kilos of drugs this year. He said that 80% of the drugs arrived by sea. He said that since last August, no Navy officer or rank officer has been involved in a drug trafficking scandal. He said that the Navy has confiscated over 2,600 kilograms of cocaine in the past 10 months, as reported in Hoy.
