President Leonel Fernandez has sent two agreements that the government has signed with Venezuela to the Supreme Court for study and constitutional guarantees. The first of the agreements deals with the prevention of illicit consumption and control of illegal trafficking of all types of drugs and the crimes involved and the second contains stronger commercial and developmental ties between the two countries. President Fernandez asked the full court, the Plenary, to issue an opinion on the constitutionality of the agreements before submitting them to Congress for ratification, a procedure set out in Article 185 of the Constitution. Chief Justice Jorge Subero Isa said that the court would undertake the immediate study of the agreements in order to decide on their constitutionality.
