Last night the Senate approved a legislative proposal that changes the Budget and Spending Law of 2010 and which includes an additional budget appropriation of RD$11.167 billion after two readings. This money will be used to cover the energy sector subsidy, a salary increase for state sector doctors, and to meet the commitments taken on by the Dominican Social Security Institute and the Central Electoral Board (JCE). The proposal submitted by the President is aimed at adding RD$3.7 billion to the Public Spending Law, using money from the sale of 49% of the shares in the Dominican Refinery (Refidomsa). There is also some RD$243.7 million from a Special Fund that is supplied by the share of the aeronautical tax assigned to the Dominican Air Force.
