President Leonel Fernandez has appointed a new chief of the Police, General Jose Polanco Gomez. He replaces Major General Rafael Guillermo Guzman Fermin. Guzman Fermin was appointed police advisor to the President. Polanco Gomez was director of the center of criminal investigations at the Police.
President Fernandez also announced that Lieutenant General Jose Joaquin Virgilio Perez, formerly chief of the Army, would replace Lieutenant General Pedro Rafael Pena Antonio.
Anibal Diaz Pena was promoted to Major General and appointed chief of the Air Force, replacing Carlos Altuna Tezanos. Brigade General Pedro Rene Valenzuela Quiroz was appointed deputy chief of the Air Force. Brigade General Carlos Rivera Portes was appointed chief of the Army. General Gerardo de los Santos Mora was appointed deputy chief.
Major General Pedro Antonio Caceres Chestaro of the Army was appointed director of the Tourism Police replacing General Henry de Jesus Gomez Bueno.
Major General Cesar Nicolas Castaing Jimenez was appointed chief of the Specialized Border Corps (Cesfront) replacing General Francisco Gil Ramirez. Brigade General Zenon Padilla Alcantara, chief of the Presidential Guard, was appointed director of the Specialized Airport Corps, replacing General Pedro Valenzuela Quiroz.
