RD$1 million for resisting a bribe

Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo has awarded RD$1 million to Air Force Major Reinaldo Mateo Santos, a National Drug Control Department inspector in the southwestern province of Pedernales. The award came as reward for the major who had turned down a bribe for a similar amount from drug traffickers. Reportedly, the drug traffickers proposed exchanging drugs for innocuous white powder so the case would have to be dropped in court. Other agents involved in the case also received incentives.
