The accident that took the life of young Raul Vila Valdez earlier this week was not linked to any racing, according to AMET. The Metropolitan Transit Authority (AMET) said that the driver was wearing his seat belt and was not racing, as had been speculated by many. According to AMET, the driver accelerated his Ferrari from a stoplight at the intersection between Lincoln and Gustavo Mejia Ricart avenues, losing control and spinning the car into a light pole. According to experts, the Ferrari could have been travelling at well over 60 miles an hour when it hit the pole, tearing the car in half upon impact. AMET chief Jose Anibal Sanz Jiminian said that AMET has put an end to late night street racing in that area.
