The Association of Commercial Banks (ABA) says that the Central Bank has accepted that old format checks can still be valid for companies that have requested but not yet received the new format checks from the bank printers. The deadline for phasing out the old checks was 17 August. ABA president Jose Manuel Lopez Valdez said that the change to the new checks has been successful and that they have been ordered by 100% of bank checking account holders. The new format provides increased security and expedites payments.
