Judge Alejandro Vargas has ordered the release of three men arrested and accused of ties with drug trafficking by the National Drug Control Department. The three are Lieutenant Colonel Alfredo Vargas Herrera, Captain Roberto Soto Feliz and Corporal Algenis Buathis Soriano, as reported in Listin Diario.
On Tuesday, the DNCD sent the findings of an investigation to the prosecutor general presenting proof that 13 officers were working for Puerto Rican drug capo Jose David Figueroa Agosto, Ramon del Rosario Puente (Tono Lena) and a network involved in sending drug mules to Europe and North America. Of the group of 13, 11 have already secured their freedom on the grounds that the accusations were not presented within the 48-hour legal limit.
