Last night the local representative of the United Nations Development Program, Valerie Julliand praised the initiative and leadership that President Leonel Fernandez showed in solidarity with Haiti in the aftermath of the 12 January earthquake. At the event, held at the Ministry of Foreign Relations on occasion of the Global Day of Humanitarian Assistance She said that never in her 17 years as a member of the UN humanitarian corps had she observed a nation that has expressed as much solidarity as the Dominican Republic.
