President Leonel Fernandez has fired the directors of the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD), Hector Rodriguez Pimentel, and of Promotion and Development of Artisan Crafts (Fondearte), Octavia Medina, and designated 15 new provincial governors.
As the substitute for Rodriguez Pimentel, the President appointed Juan Rodriguez and for Medina, the Chief Executive appointed Ana Maria Garcia.
The national media had exposed alleged acts of corruption in their departments, especially Medina, who was singled out by Nuria Piera. The President also repealed Decree 645-09 that designated Jose Felix Cabrera as Deputy Tourism Minister.
In the meantime, the President, in Decree 454-10, appointed the following people as the civil provincial governors: Fausto Forchue in Samana, Ricardo Pichardo in Maria Trinidad Sanchez, former District Attorney Raul Fernandez in Santiago, Guillermo Torres in La Vega, Rafael Maria Mendoza in Barahona and Rosario Rodriguez Nova in Elias Pina.
