The Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE) explains that the long blackout that affected several circuits in Santo Domingo yesterday came about after attempts to synchronize the Itabo generation park. The CDEEE says that after 45 days of maintenance works the Itabo plant that generates 115 megawatts was due to go online but this process affected power supplies, causing eight-hour blackouts in several sectors where power is usually reliable as of late.
