Judge Rafael Delfin Perez has ordered the confiscation of four Caribair planes for arrears in payments to Plus International Bank of Florida. The company demanded payment of US$1,50,712.92, as reported in Listin Diario. The Russin, Vecchi & Heredia Bonetti law firm represented the bank. The airplanes were a Piper Model PA 31-310, a British Aerospace Model Jetstream 3101, a Saab Model SF 340A, and Model SF 340A. Listin Diario quotes aviation experts as saying that the judgment creates a legal precedent in the DR on obtaining overseas financing for airplanes.
Diario Libre reports that with these four latest confiscations, company owner Rafael Rosado has now lost six airplanes. The airline made domestic and regular flights to Haiti. Rosado was present at the confiscation, which took place at La Isabela International Airport in El Higuero.
