Cardinal asks for support on reform

Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez has told reporters that he hopes that the different sectors of Dominican society would support the government's efforts to reform the Constitution. Lopez Rodriguez was speaking at a ceremony commemorating the 137th anniversary of the founding of the Order of the Sisters of Charity of Cardinal Sancha. He asked everyone to heed the invitation to testify before the committee responsible for gathering opinions about constitutional changes. The prelate said that the reform process is a national effort that needs to debate all of the proposals, such as the one to reduce the President's discretional powers. The constitutional reform is a priority on the President Fernandez agenda.
