The police have announced that they have disbanded a gang of thieves made up of supposed watchmen. The gang carried out armed assaults and robberies, according to Listin Diario. The thieves were caught red-handed while stealing appliances from Multi-Centro La Sirena on Charles De Gaulle Avenue in Santo Domingo. They were apprehended with a truck, five shotguns and three revolvers. The four watchmen, who were on duty at La Sirena, were employed by the Dominican Watchman company. They were apprehended as they loaded DVD players, inverters, CD players, fans and television sets into the truck.
The police also said that they had caught another gang that had committed forty robberies of markets and cell phone stores in eastern Santo Domingo.
