Dominican exports for the first half of the year grew by 25% over 2005. According to statistics provided by the Center for Foreign Investment in the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD), local products with highest demand were ferronickel, which grew by over 30%, sugar, re-bar and bananas. The United States, Haiti and South Korea were the principal receiving countries. Some products suffered a decrease in demand; beer, non-fermented cacao and plantains were among those mentioned by El Caribe
