Rains are forecast for the eastern and southeastern coasts as a tropical wave moves over from Haiti. According to a bulletin from the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) the tropical wave is moving to the east at 32 kilometers per hour. In the meantime a trough of low pressure is still over the western parts of the island, bringing humidity and heat.
The office is also tracking an area of low pressure associated with a low-pressure wave to the west of Cape Verde. The latest forecasts say that there is a 70% chance that this will develop into a tropical cyclone in the next few days.
