The Central Romana inaugurated a RD$36 million hospital offering modern diagnostics services. The Centro Diagnostico Social seeks to offer residents in La Romana services for which residents would travel to Santo Domingo. The center has equipment worth US$2 million. It is located next to the public hospital of the city. Father Victor Garcia, and Xiomara de Menendez, founder of the Patronato Benefico Oriental charity, head the weekend opening ceremonies.
