Evening showings were fully booked and many movie-goers had to be turned away. So Caribbean Cinemas decided to extend the First Fine Arts International Film Festival at Novocentro through 8 September. The festival also marked the opening of the new cinema and of Novocentro, a shopping mall at Lope de Vega Avenue. The festival would have ended on Wednesday, 1 September and moved on to Santiago, but will now stay another week. Zumaya Cordero, operations manager for the cinema, said the movies that were in most demand would be repeated this week. The Film Festival showed 21 movies, many award winners at international film festivals.
