After its participation in the China Grand Prix, the Dominican women's volleyball team climbed two levels, and is now ranked 11th in the world and 4th in the Americas. In China, the DR won games against China, Germany and Italy. The DR also won prize money for US$50,000. The DR first played in a Grand Prix in 2004. The team is coached by Brazilian Marcos Kwiek.
