The National Drug Department has reported the discovery of a second marijuana nursery in a city apartment in the past two weeks. This time, the drugs were being cultivated in an apartment in Santiago. 14 marijuana plants were confiscated in containers on the balcony of the apartment on Calle Principal 7, Cerro Alto. The DNCD also arrested Francisco Simeon Fernandez Diaz, believed to be responsible for the crop.
DNCD spokesman Colonel Ramon Alcides Rodriguez Veras said that 34 grams of the weed and a portion of cocaine were found in Fernandez Diaz's room.
On 22 August, the DNCD confiscated 13 marijuana plants from a Gazcue penthouse. The person responsible, 23-year old Auri Veronica Goyo is a fugitive from justice.
