To be meddled with more later: what most people think of when they think of sex work (as opposed to mass media, or even independent media) is what actually represents the long tail (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_tail) of hooking: street work, maybe strip clubs, certainly porn. Those who form what is considered within the industry to be the top, both in terms of income and prestige (or, the inverse of whore stigma -- the less fucking you do, the more exalted you are), make a different sort of dent in the public eye: the high class call girl, the elite dominatrix, the private dancer who will sweet talk paycheck after paycheck away. But who are we told is "the real whore"? Who gets to tell her own story more?
