Minors take to drugs

Leopoldo Diaz of Hogares Crea drug rehabilitation centers says that 8-12 year old children who have been used as drug delivery boys are now increasingly becoming addicted themselves. He said many have had to be taken to the Hogares Crea centers, according to Hoy. Minors are increasingly being used for dispatching narcotics because they are protected by the Minors Code. Diaz says the children are consuming marijuana, crack, cocaine and even heroin. He says this increases the demand for services such as those offered by Hogares Crea. He says they operate 43 centers but many more are needed to meet the demand.
