According to Presidential Minister Cesar Pina Toribio, the government is considering merging several ministries and eliminating many of the vice-ministries as part of a modernization process that is undergoing final touches. Pina Toribio said that a commission coordinated by the Presidential Ministry and including the Ministry of Public Administration and the Presidential Legal Advisor is in charge of drafting the bill. He said that the government needed to comply with the new Constitution that changed the secretariats to ministries and that this move would automatically remove a series of vice-ministries while retaining the essence of the departments. He stressed that the President would have the final word on which ministries will be merged.
