UN: Corruption at high levels in DR

United Nations Development Program representative in the DR Valerie Julliand has told Diario Libre that the high levels of administrative corruption in government have been documented in reports from several institutions. Julliand said that corruption is a huge evil that affects all activities in the country, and that the poor suffer the most. She said government and society needed to work in order to reduce corruption at all levels. In December 2009, President Fernandez sought the help of the UN resident coordinator and the World Bank and IDB representatives to determine the levels of corruption in his government.
