Ivonne Chahin Saso, senator for El Seibo

Congress has selected the mother-in-law of the director of the National Institute of Price Stabilization (Inespre), Ricardo Jacobo, who was the PLD's first choice for candidate to run for senator for El Seibo. When Ricardo Jacobo was rejected as a candidate because he had not lived in El Seibo for the required five years, his father Manuel Antonio Jacobo was appointed PLD candidate for El Seibo and won. But during the transition period from his being elected to taking office, Jacobo passed away. Ivonne Chahin Saso will replace the late senator-elect. Other candidates proposed for the post by President Leonel Fernandez were Francheska Trigo (wife of Ricardo Jacobo) and Christian Jacobo Cabrera, son of the late senator elect.
