Canadian caught with US$20,865

A Canadian, John Frederick Forbes, was discovered to have US$20,865 in undeclared funds, and was arrested at the Gregorio Luperon International Airport by the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) of the Dominican Republic. According to the El Caribe, the Canadian was carrying US$20,600 and RD$9,820 (US$265) in cash. Dominican law states that any sum over US$10,000 entering or leaving the country must be declared.
