On the occasion of the Fashion Night Out event organized by Oscar de la Renta to celebrate New York Fashion Week, merengue band leader Pochy Familia and his 12-piece merengue Cocoband had everyone at the De la Renta's small 722 Madison Avenue store people dancing and singing his songs. Professional dancers from a Latin ballroom studio whipped guests into a dancing mood, while champagne and ceviche were served in this Latin-style party. Dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov, a neighbor of Oscar de la Renta in Los Corales in Punta Cana, was the advertised celebrity of the night. El Dia reported that Catherine Zeta Jones, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tim Robbins and other famous personalities showed up at the store. Oscar de la Renta himself sang the merengue classic Compadre Pedro Juan with Pochy. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg also was there, according to a report in El Dia.
