The director of the Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET) has announced that his agents would be placing speed bumps on the major avenues that are used as racetracks by the young bloods of Santo Domingo.
Major General Jose Anibal Sanz Jiminian said that AMET plans to place movable speed bumps along Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill and Gregorio Luperon avenues as well as along other major roadways with a view to ending the practice of street racing, as reported in Diario Libre.
During a meeting with dozens of "motoconchistas" (motorcycle taxi drivers) he called on the public to report other streets where racing takes place. The speed bumps will be placed at 11pm, which is usually when some of the racing starts.
