Jorge Anibal Torres Puello, who has dual US and Dominican citizenship has been handed over to the US Justice Department after an extradition process that lasted nearly nine months in the Dominican Supreme Court of Justice.
According to Listin Diario, the 32-year old "lawyer" was requested for extradition by the United States Department of Justice on human trafficking charges after he began to assist the Baptist missionary group that was arrested for child smuggling in Haiti shortly after the earthquake.
A federal court in Vermont, in New England, requested his extradition so he can answer charges of illegal human trafficking. He is accused of bringing some 40 people from El Salvador into the United States illegally.
