Seven to nine-foot waves are forecast for the north and northeastern shoreline as Igor, almost a Category 5 storm, continues from Africa on a WNW track. Waves will be higher deeper into the Atlantic Ocean. Igor is expected to die out in the ocean if it continues on its present course. The weather forecast for the weekend is good, with not much to be concerned about during these initial days of the peak hurricane season for the Caribbean. Neither of the two other named storms, Julia and Karl are expected to pose a threat to the Dominican Republic.
