Non-regulated cannot steal power

Circe Almanzar, vice president of the DR Association of Industries (AIRD) has rejected a statement by Roby Senderowitsch of the World Bank who blamed a major part of the DR's power deficiencies on large companies that steal electricity. "We believe that there must have been a misinterpretation of the statements by the World Bank representative in the country," she said. "Non-regulated users cannot steal energy. A Non Regulated User contract is drawn up directly with the generator, which bills for the power and services it", she explained. She said that Senderowitsch was more likely to have been referring to companies that are illegally outside the system.
