Take special care when driving along the 6 de Noviembre highway linking Santo Domingo with San Cristobal. El Dia reports today that truckers have created improvised crossings. Sudden illegal maneuvers by drivers trying to enter the old Carretera Sanchez are known to have caused several fatal accidents. El Dia reports that Law 174-09 states: "The construction of crosses, bridges, or intersections in middle sections or inter-highway lanes is prohibited." However, the newspaper then goes on to make the point that no entity has exercised the authority to enforce the fulfillment of the law.
