The Chief of the Police Southern Command, General Rafael Calderon Efres has announced that the entire staff in Pedernales was removed. Major Daniel de Leon Rodriguez will direct the team that replaces the outgoing contingent. During the Provincial Development Council meeting held in Pedernales this week, community members complained of alleged links between the police contingent and criminals.
"We were told that in Pedernales there is a lack of policing, that there is complicity between some members of the police and criminals, but these are very vague complaints, and for that reason we have ordered a formal investigation to establish who is who," said General Calderon, as reported in Hoy.
