Robbery at Casa de Espana

Thieves bound and gagged two watchmen to steal two ATMs containing approximately RD$3.5 million from the premises of the Casa de Espana recreational and sports club in Santo Domingo. The thieves loaded the ATMS on their vehicle in the early hours of the morning. Both watchmen are under investigation. One of the ATMs contained RD$2 million, the other RD$1.5 million. The Police reported that the thieves had checked through files and desks in the accounting area and also took hundreds of thousands of pesos in cash, liquor, food and cigarettes. They left thousands in checks in the office. The robbery was committed a day after the half month pay date.
