Mayor Ilana Neumann called, through local TV stations, to all residents of Sosúa to join in a mayor clean-up of Sosúa coming Saturday. For the lack of adequate garbage collection means, because most equipment of the municipal garbage collection service has disappeared under mysterious circumstances, the government is currently unable to recover the garbage to everyone's liking. But now the mayor calls, through the three TV channels, to all the people of Sosúa, including foreigners, to report themselves on Saturday September 18 at 7am at City Hall to sign up for a major clean-up of the entire town.
Ilana makes a call
With this action, every sympathetic Sosúa resident can show that he or she wants to make a positive contribution to improving the quality of life of the beach town.

I'm sure the chicas are included in this clean up. She must of read "Broken Windows" theory.

I don't think it applies much to EL Batey, as the other parts of Sosua.

Or maybe I'm just used to city life cause I really didnt see hardly any trash on PC or the surrounding area's. The beach could use a cleaning here and there but nothing to stop me from going.

Holding her High Heels in one hand, picking up little pieces of trash with the other, while 2 guys with a bucket follow her around.
Probably more efficient than what they got going on there now.:rofl:

Nice to see that it is a concern. My first memory of Sosua is that pond as you come into town that is filed with garbage... Cleaning up is good but she also needs to educate the populace about throwing crap away. Give the sweetest looking girl in Sosua a piece of gum and she casually tosses the wrapper on the ground without a thought.

Clean things up by all means but lets also impress upon people to use a garbage can.

They can start by throwing her in the trash and taking her to the dump. What they are doing to the girls here IMO is nothing short of harassment and extortion.

I would think sooner or later or if not already, it will be too dangerous for this mayor bitch to be out in public.

Last weekend, many residents appeared enthusiastic for the big clean-up of our beloved beach town. During the last half year, the household waste was collected only rarely, and the streets were filthy. But thanks to the call of the popular mayor Ilana Neumann, the population took spontaneously action. Students, athletes, truck drivers, members of the Protestant and Catholic church, military from the air force and the workers of the new municipal administration came to City Hall Saturday morning to register for the purge.

Many private companies made their company vehicles available for the clean-up. Even shovels, brooms and plastic buckets were made available by individuals and companies for the participants. The Mayor, accompanied by her city council, spent the whole day in town with the volunteers to support them and thank them for their efforts. During the purge tons of trash were picked up and driven to the nearest landfill. The fire department was present to clean the streets extra nice after the action. The town of Sosúa showed with this positive action, that it stands behind its Mayor.

It's funny how people bitch and complain yet this was organized, actually happened and looks like a success. Unless one of us was there to show us that is was just BS and made no difference why not accept that there can be positive change and applaud it? I see little to be negative or cynical about.

It was done all over and very successful, especially in Charamicos . And yes, the fire trucks washed most of the streets/sidewalks in this area without hurting one single chica that works in Sosua:rofl:

Maybe, just maybe this is why she organized a cleanup?
