The 18th Annual Dominican Week in the US event takes place this week in New York City and Washington, D.C. Business representatives travel for meetings, talks and conferences intended to strengthen the financial, political and cultural relations between the US and the DR.
As a concurrent event, President Leonel Fernandez is booked to speak at the Council of the Americas in New York City on 24 September.
"The members of the Organizing Committee of the Dominican Week in the US want to stress their willingness to continuously promote and disseminate the seed of Dominican patriotism and pride by providing a forum to reflect on, and study, the values of Dominican culture with the hope of motivating organizations and entities that work with the Dominican community in the US to recognize and respect the cultural identity of the community," said the president of the Organizing Committee of the Dominican Week in the US, Luis Heredia Bonetti.
Dominican professionals from Wall Street (DOWS) will hold a panel discussion with the title Macro Vision of Capital Markets of the Dominican Republic. The discussion will be held at 1 Liberty Plaza, 7th Floor, Room A, New York, NY 1006 on 23 September at 5:30pm.
Also in New York, covering the legal-institutional arena there will be a conference about The Constitution of the Dominican Republic and its Impact on the Consolidation of the Judiciary System, scheduled for Wednesday, 22 September at 6pm, followed by a ceremony to recognize prominent Dominican professionals in the United States. This event will be held at the office of the Culture Commissioner in New York.
Organizers of the event are inviting also to the discussion on the Influences of Dominican and Dominican-American Culture and Art in the US scheduled for Monday, 20 September from 5pm at Mio Restaurant, 1110 Vermont Ave., NW, Washington, DC 2005. Keynote speaker is Cid Wilson, member of the US Government Special Commission to study the creation of the Hispanic Heritage Museum.
Another panel discussion will be held in Washington, in the United States Chamber of Commerce is about the Role of the Dominican Republic in the Reconstruction of Haiti on Tuesday, 21 September on the premises of the US Chamber of Commerce, located at 1615 H St., NW, Washington, D. C. 20062-2000.
