President Leonel Fernandez and First Lady Margarita Cedeno were at the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development yesterday to listen to a talk on "Achieving Greatness in a Country".
Covey is the author of the bestseller The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. In his talk he highlighted teamwork and described his seven pillars of success for leadership. Be proactive, begin with the end in mind, think win-win, independent will, dimensions of winning, synergy and renovating the four dimensions of nature - physical, spiritual, mental and social.
He said the secret of life is not accumulation, but contributing and service, the base a leader should build on. He commented that most people dedicate 65-80% of their time to reacting to emergencies, instead of putting first things first.
