National District Mayor Roberto Salcedo, known for his popularly-named "Zooberto Park" on Av. John F. Kennedy, was recently in Panama and has returned, talking up a megaproject that he says will change the looks of the Colonial City and the Malecon, as reported in 7dias.com.do
The source of funding for this proposed project is unknown. As reported, Salcedo was inspired by the historic center of Panama City where he traveled as a guest of the Ministry of Public Works.
The proposed restoration would include the Colonial City and the entire length of the Malecon from Plaza Juan Baron to Manresa. Also, the Parque Eugenio Maria de Hostos, underground cable installation and the restoration of Guibia Beach.
